Intramural sports are for SMS students only. Click for info on Intramural Sports

To participate in Intramural Sports at SMS you must have two forms:

1. Click HERE for the Intramural Sports Program Permission Form

2. Click HERE for the Intramural Sports Program Release and Hold Harmless Form

The following forms are needed to participate in our Inter-Scholastic Sports Programs

Pre-participation Physical Evaluation Form Link

Emergency Medical/Treatment Field Trip Consent Form

Parent Guardian Release and Hold Harmless Agreement Form

We also have Inter-Scholastic Sports. Sarasota Middle School Interscholastic teams compete with all of the other middle schools in Sarasota County. 7th and 8th graders who meet the following requirements are eligible to try out for the teams listed below. We do not travel outside of our county.

Sports Available

Last week of August through first week of October

· Golf – boys and girls on the same team

· Tennis – A boys team and a girls team

· Volleyball – A girls team only

 

October to Mid-January

Basketball - A boys team and a girls team.

 

End of January to third week of April

Track and Field - Boys team and a girls team.

Requirements

    · 2.0 or higher Grade Point Average

    · Physical/athletic screening dated after May 15 (one physical/screening is good for 
      all sports seasons)

    · The Parent/Guardian Release and Hold Harmless Agreement Form completed
      and notarized.

    · The parent/guardian must initial each sport for which the student intends to try
      out.

    · All forms completed and returned to Coach Patella before try out date.

    · Student must be younger than 15 years and 9 months.
