 SMS awarded Top Honor!
Sarasota Middle School has been awarded the top honor as the 2009 State School of Character in Florida. SMS was judge based upon 11 principles of Character Education published by the Character Education Partnership of Washington, D.C. The Golden Rule Foundation of the Florida Department of Education reviewed our application and selected us over other middle, elementary and high school applications. Our application is currently being reviewed by the Federal Department of Education and we should soon find out if we are a finalist for a National School of Character. Great Job SMS!!!!

The students on the three PGA teams took part in a Toothbrush and Toothpaste Drive that will benefit the students at Emma E. Booker Elementary. They collected over 450 toothbrushes and  over 200 tubes of toothpaste! That is a staggering number of donations!  The purpose of the drive was to give the students at EE Booker their very own toothbrush and toothpaste to have for the summer to promote continued good dental hygiene.
